What makes milk chocolate?

Milk chocolate is probably the most popular type of chocolate in Australia. Made from combining cocoa, milk and sugar, milk chocolate contains more milk fat than dark chocolate, meaning it melts in the mouth easily, and has a smooth and creamy texture on the tongue.

Milk chocolate has flavours not only of cocoa and milk, but also includes hints of vanilla and caramel. It’s often combined with other things to make it extra delicious, such as nuts, wafer, berries, honeycomb, nougat and more. Fashioned into chocolate bars, chocolate blocks, boxes and bags of individual milk chocolates, there’s no end to the variety of milk chocolate available in Australia.

Milk Chocolate-Smothered Delights

Who doesn’t like milk chocolate when it’s combined with other delicious ingredients? Whether it be berries, nuts, caramel, licorice or something else, we love our milk chocolate combinations at The Chocolate Box, and offer plenty of options.

Treat yourself to some Milk Coconut Roughs, blending creamy and sweet milk chocolate with toasted coconut. Gnaw on them slowly, or quickly scoff them back. It’s up to you!

Why not keep a bag of Milk Choc Peanut Clusters in the pantry for when hunger strikes? These clusters are made using Australian peanuts, and offer a crunchy texture with your creamy milk chocolate.

And for something ultra indulgent—yet a little bit healthy—we have the Lemon Myrtle Macadamias. These Australian macadamia nuts are encased in delicious milk chocolate, with a mild lemon myrtle flavour.

Out of the nut category, but still sticking to milk chocolate, we offer Milk Chocolate Sultanas that use plump and sweet sultanas covered in sweet milk chocolate. These are the ultimate fix for a sweet tooth!

Kid’s Favourites

Everyone knows kids like milk chocolate most of all. It’s much gentler on a young palate, as opposed to dark chocolate, which can be a little too bitter for chocolate-eating apprentices.

So most of the kids’ favourites in our collections are made using milk chocolate. These include Milk Sparkles, made from premium milk chocolate and sprinkled with fine, multicoloured candy sparkles—making them that little bit crunchy. 

Without the crunch, we have the plain Milk Chocolate Pastilles, which are pretty much the same thing as the Sparkles, but without the sprinkles.

Kids tend to love strawberries, which is why our Strawberry Crèmes are popular. Here kids get to unwrap a milk chocolate shell, and bite into some soft strawberry cream! Yum!

For adventurous kids, our Milk Choc Rocks are pretty exciting. Whether they be mini meteorites or dinosaur fossils, the imaginative kids will enjoy sifting through them and pretending they’re something genuinely geological. (They’ll also enjoy biting into the crunchy candy shell to get the milk chocolate inside!)

Gianduja Chocolate

We can’t talk about milk chocolate without mentioning Gianduja. Gianduja is a mixture of chocolate with finely-ground hazelnuts that are smoothed into a paste, making for a confection that is lighter than dark chocolate, and slighter darker than milk chocolate.

The Gianduja we supply at The Chocolate Box is made in Belgium. It’s so soft that it simply melts in your mouth, hence, has a very similar textural feel to milk chocolate, and milk chocolate lovers often love Gianduja in equal measure.
